CLIFFS OF MOHER
If anyone does care to know
‘Twas at the Cliffs of Moher I chose to go
As I walked through the pouring rain
Closer to the cliffs I came
And as I stepped up to the ledge
From behind the clouds the sun did edge
To reassure me with that sign
That this truly was my time
I raised my arms in thanks and praise
And to the heavens set my gaze
All around the sky was blue
‘Twas time I did what I came to do
I asked for courage as I looked to the sea
I knew down there my mind would be free
From the entanglements and the strain of life
I longed to go and join my wife
‘Tis near a decade since our last time here
Now all those memories seem so near
Although ‘twas sickness which tore us apart
‘Tis here I chose to rejoin her heart
With a smile I stepped t'wards Inis Mor
And sailed towards the ocean floor
I am now with all I longed to be
‘Twas the Cliffs of Moher which set me free
